Tarantino Plans Django/Basterds Trilogy?
History may be rewritten once more...

Quentin Tarantino

Speaking after winning his BAFTA for best Original Screenplay, Quentin Tarantino has revealed that after Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained that another piece of rewritten QT history is very much on the cards.

Answering a question in the BAFTA Winners Press Conference on whether he was planning another piece of QT-ified history, the multi-award winner was keen to not give any details on just what it was going to be, but was happy to hint at another little piece of history repeating.

"This [rewritten history theme] begs a trilogy, it begs to have a third movie on this theme. I haven’t decided about what yet, but I wouldn’t be surprised…"

Despite the lack of details, definitely file this one under "very exciting indeed". But if you're looking for one certain thing here, it's that with two BAFTAs for Best Supporting Actor on his mantlepiece that Christoph Waltz will be part of the audition process...

Django Unchained is out now.

Which part of history would you like Quentin Tarantino to write about next?
The Revolutionary War
The English Civil War
The Moon landings
Women's suffrage
DINOSAURS!
1966 World Cup
The Crusades
The Vietnam War
The Big Bang
VIKINGS!

Plus, as a extra bonus for you, here's an excerpt from a deleted scene which QT acted out in the press conference. It explains just how his character in the film -- an enfranchised worker from Australia -- ended up in America. Needless to say, all of his dialogue was recreated in the appropriately broad Aussie accent heard from him in the film itself.

Django: How much you get paid? You work for the The LeQuint Dickey Mining Co., don’t you?

The LeQuint Dickey Mining Co. Employee: Now look, Blackie doesn’t work like that. He paid for our passage from Australia to here, we get a little bit of money, we pay him a bit back for the trip.

Django: How long have you been working for him?

The LeQuint Dickey Mining Co. Employee: About three years.

Django: And you haven’t paid the man YET!?

The LeQuint Dickey Mining Co. Employee: Nah, not yet…

I think I prefer the idea of a 30's / Gangster / Prohibition era film than a Vietnam film.. I feel like he's done 'war' with IB. I'd rather he went in the opposite direction. More

Full Circle
He should do a Nam film and call it "Home in a Body Bag" - as Bear Jew is suppos't be the father of the director that made that film in True Romance it would be a nice full circle to the trilogy. Then again maybe thats too much like IB as it's another war film. I think it would have to have guns and Americans in it which would rule out a lot of the above. Or maybe he will come left field and and make Wolf Hall. More

There was apparently a rumour Tarantino was going to take on the unmade Kubrick film wartime lies. It was probably garbage but it makes you think how he would handle the holocaust. It would have to be a serious movie though of course, free of hyper reality. Or would that be too real? More

If Quentin's going for the history/revenge theme again I'd love to see him tackle Irish prohibition or maybe native Americans. More

RE: Actually
Think more likely to be a Gangster movie as already done war once & as shown on the likes of Broadwalk empire there's plenty of scope for different types & races, so should be right up QT's street. More

Actually
I think it should/probably will be either 'Nam or Prohibition era (he's talked about doing a gangster film before). I think 'Nam will be more interesting, and the latter more of a gamble (thinking he might over-stylise it). More
