Kristen Stewart Slips Into The Big Shoe
Elizabeth Banks also after some footwear

08 February 2013  |  Written by James White  |  Source: Deadline

Kristen Stewart

If you thought the shoe fashion fetish genre died with Kinky Boots, you were wrong. Because here comes Secretary writer/director Steven Shainberg with The Big Shoe, and he’s got Kristen Stewart and Elizabeth Banks all set to join the cast.

Though Joaquin Phoenix was attached at one point, Jim Sturgess is now starring in the film, which Shainberg wrote with Mickey Birnbaum. The plot finds Sturgess as a gifted (and foot fetishising) shoe designer who wants to keep his work pure, but who faces pressure from his overbearing family to turn his carefully crafted creations into mass-market products.

In order to tempt him on, his mother (Susan Sarandon, if she signs) hires psychotherapist Mary Kay (Banks) and sexy muse Delphi (Stewart) in the hopes that it’ll get his creative, er, juices, flowing.

We’d expect plenty of dark comedy and erotic overtones from the man who made Secretary and Fur, but there’s no word yet on when it’ll start shoe-ting. Sorry… Shooting. It’s on sale at the European Film Market right now, hoping that it doesn’t end up in the clearance bin next to an old DVD of Sneakers. Gah! The shoe puns! We can’t stop.

We stopped.
