Kristen Wiig On For Anchorman 2
Adam McKay confirms her casting

05 February 2013  |  Written by James White  |  Source: Adam McKay

Kristen Wiig and Will Ferrell

Sweet Lincoln’s mullet! No, we don’t mean Daniel Day-Lewis has agreed to an Anchorman sequel cameo (though that would be amazing; please call him and ask), we’re simply happy to report that Kristen Wiig – who had been in talks – is officially aboard the film.

Director, producer and co-writer Adam McKay geared up the Twitter machine last night to send out the following: "Just found out Kristen Wiig officially on board for Anchorman 2. Cannonball!” Cannonball indeed, sir. Cannonball indeed.

McKay has yet to confirm which role she’ll be taking, though talk when she was first mentioned had her possibly playing a woman who becomes involved with Steve Carell’s Brick Tamland. So… Someone with a strange taste in men, even if they are polite and rarely late?

McKay and Ron Burgundy himself, Will Ferrell, have been busy writing the script, and we’re hoping that the conch shell will blow to reassemble the news team next month so Ferrell, Carell, Paul Rudd, David Koechner and Christina Applegate should all be back on duty for Anchorman: The Legend Continues. Producer Judd Apatow himself said at our webchat last week he hopes there’s enough footage left over for a short film (we suspect he was only partially kidding, folks), so here’s hoping it’s all gold.

Anchorman: The Legend Continues is set for a December 20 release.

Good news
She'll be a really good addition to the cast. Well, she certainly has the comedy chops for it. More
