Reign Of Assassins UK Trailer Online
Yeoh, Woo, wuxia

24 January 2013  |  Written by Helen O'Hara  |  Source: Exclusive

Reign Of Assassins may lack the dragon action of Reign Of Fire or a skateboarding Adam Sandler a la Reign Over Me, but it does at least have actual reigning in it, and we can't emphasise enough how important that is in a movie with the word "reign" in the title. The new wuxia flick, co-directed by John Woo and Taiwanese filmmaker Chao Bin-Su, has a UK trailer that you can watch below.

The ruling powers in Reign Of Assassins have an unusually bloody jurisdiction. They're the Dark Stone assassins guild and they're after the bones of a Buddhist monk that they believe will bestow supernatural powers upon them. But one of their number - Drizzle (Michelle Yeoh) - has other ideas and makes off with the needful.

The story picks up a few years later with 'Lethal' Drizzle now going by the name Zeng Jing and Dark Stone keen to have a word. Shit, we expect, will get real fast from here.

Headlining the martial arts flick is Yeoh, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon's flying femme, and it's good to see her back on an action footing after last year's Aung San Suu Kyi biopic The Lady proved a rather inert affair. You can catch her latest in cinemas from February 15.

Finally!
I've been waiting for this film to come out over here for years. Resorted to watching it on Youtube because it was looking like it would never happen. I think this is a brilliant martial arts fantasy film, and have no idea why it's taken nearly THREE YEARS since its Asian release. More
