Drew Struzan Art For New Star Wars?
Iconic poster designer will consider it

21 January 2013  |  Written by James White  |  Source: Fanhattan (via Ain't It Cool)

Easily the most famous – at least among cult film connoisseurs – current movie poster artist is Drew Struzan. He’s worked on some of the most notable films of the last few decades, including Back To The Future, Harry Potter and the Indiana Jones trilogy. Oh, and a little series of films called Star Wars. So you can imagine the excitement when Struzan revealed to the Fanhattan blog that Disney has asked him to consider working on Episode VII.

We would caution at this point that it’s only a request for now – Struzan himself has said he mostly wants to retire after years meticulously crafting imagery. But the lure is there… “Never say never,” he laughs, “because…in fact, I got a couple calls already this week on Star Wars from Disney. Oh my god, I’m trying to be retired!

“You know, I spent 35 years painting Star Wars. I painted Star Wars before most of you were born! But I guess there is always a chance. There’s no intention. But I would love to have a day off every now and again, and I have to work a weekend and all through the night. If the opportunity arises, it will be a real temptation. But it’s going to have to be a real temptation to get me away from my wife and my little grandkids and my family. All things are possible.”

The idea of Struzan art adorning walls and poster cases at cinemas is certainly a tempting one for us. Let's all start crossing our fingers and willing him to do it…

Excellent news!!!
I'm more excited about the fact that he'll do the poster than I am about seeing the movie. I could care less about the film actually. More
