Charlie Hunnam May Scale Crimson Peak
For Guillermo del Toro

19 January 2013  |  Written by James White  |  Source: The Hollywood Reporter

Guillermo del Toro and Charlie Hunnam at Comic Con

There’s no denying that Guillermo del Toro inspires loyalty in performers – when he finds someone he likes working with (see: Ron Perlman; Doug Jones), they crop up in various projects. It would appear he’s bonded with Charlie Hunnam, who is starring in this year’s Pacific Rim, because the Sons Of Anarchy actor is now in early talks for the director’s haunted house thriller Crimson Peak.

Though spookier details like the plot are being kept quiet, we do know it’s a throwback to classic chillers such as The Haunting and will be made on a relatively lean budget, though hardly the micro budget style favoured by found footage films.

If he does make a deal, Hunnam will likely be co-starring with Emma Stone, who entered negotiations earlier this week. They’d be working from a script that del Toro wrote with regular partner Mathew Robbins, and which he’s recently been re-working with Lucinda Coxon.

All being well, del Toro will start the cameras cranking and the screams starting in February. While it’s not guaranteed, we’d guess either one of or both Jones and Perlman will eventually be involved. Pacific Rim – which features Perlman – will be out July 12.
