New Lovelace Pic
And Sarah Jessica Parker has been cut

17 January 2013  |  Written by James White  |  Source: Entertainment Weekly

One of the more anticipated films arriving at the Sundance Film Festival this year is Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman’s Lovelace. It's anticipated not just for its subject matter – since Amanda Seyfried is playing porn legend Linda Lovelace – but also so cinemagoers can see the finished cut of the film. A new image from the movie is online above courtesy of Entertainment Weekly.

Seeing the final edit of the film will be especially interesting in this case because at least one role has now been completely cut. Sarah Jessica Parker had shot scenes as feminist icon Gloria Steinem, who wrote an article on Lovelace and helped her as she reverted to her real name, Linda Boreman, and became an anti-porn crusader.

Friedman and Epstein decided in the editing room to end the story a little earlier than they originally planned, snipping material set in 1984, which meant all of Parker’s scenes ended up outside of the final cut.

But the likes of Sharon Stone, Juno Temple, Wes Bentley, Hank Azaria, Bobby Cannavale, Chris Noth and Adam Brody are all still present and correct, plus Peter Sarsgaard, who plays Lovelace’s first husband, Chuck Traynor. He’s the man she later claimed abused her and coerced her into the porn world.

Lovelace’s producers will be looking for distribution at the festival. We’d expect it to see cinemas before the end of the year.

Cutting out SJP is the best division they've made yet. I would feel very uncomfortable to have a horse in a porn film.... More

Poor SJP!
SJP has had her part cut. That must be pretty hard to swallow. More
