Best Score?!?!
Why is Beasts of the Southern Wild not included in this category?
Of the list I've only seen Skyfall and Life of Pi and while those are both great scores (Skyfall beats Life of Pi in my opinion) neither are better than Beasts.
I downloaded it as soon as I saw the film and it instantly brings back the feelings while watching it. I can only think it must not have been eligible.
For me the best score of the year by far. More

Wonder if it's because they get dvds before they make their noms is the reason that Beasts & Amour got nods? which is a good thing as they probably didn't get seen by what 80-90% of the voters when they were released at the Cinema & hopefully will open up the paths for similar productions to have more of a wider release.

Wonder why neither Bond or Batman's films got nominated as there was still an open spot left in the best film catagory? (they only chose 9 as opposed to the 10 they could have)
ecause that's not how they're nominated. Every Academy voter gets to list their favourite five (think they've reduced it to five now, even though there's up to 10 slots) films of the year. They have to rank their ballots in order. So a ballot could look like
1. The Master
2. Lincoln More

RE: Best score for Skyfall??!
And why in the name of Cubby R Brocolli did the insipid and barely understandable theme song from Skyfall get a nod as well? Worst. Bond. Theme. Ever. And yes, I'm including The Living Daylights and License To Kill. I'd rather here that Christmas tree one from OHMSS than this bland toss on toast. More

Best score for Skyfall??!
So, David Arnold composes some of the best pieces of action music for any film made with the scores for Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough and Casino Royale and receives naff all attention from the Academy of Cloth Eared Nincompoops.
David Newman pops along and produces the most forgettable score in Bond history and gets a nod. Mind you, they seem to rate any old faff that Desplat puffs out, so I guess there's no accounting for taste. More

In neither case is having an overly-complicated plot a plot hole. It's a hallmark of the type of villain that both Bond and Batman have always had to face. Nor is the knee brace... but you at least get points for not saying "how did Batman get back into Gotham?" More

Skyfall was the bigger culprit. Completely over elaborate plot when all he had to do was dress up as a cop and shoot his victim. And if you're being hunted by a killer at night it's not a good idea to wave a torch about. Heads of intelligence agencies ought to know that.

There's only a handful of pictures that seem to have a lot of nominations. Not very interesting for the viewer because it's likely that one or two will clean up and that's never an accurate account of 12 months. If I could add any I'd add Chris Nolan for TDKR just because the movie is so epic in size (not many directors can handle that David Lean-size scope), I'd add MacFarlane, Sulkin and Wild for Ted's original screenplay because that was the funniest movie I've seen since More

o. It wasn't. This has been discussed many times at length... there's not one "plot hole" that can't be explained using the internal logic of the movies, or in some cases are right there on screen.

Once again the noms make no sense. Django could be best picture but then no nom for QT? and the snub to Chris Nolan as usual is a shocker not even nominated for cinematography or score is utter rubbish. People can moan that it wasn't the dark knight but that was the point. Tom Hardy did a great job as Bane only being able to use his eyes to convey emotion, if he had ODed no doubt he would be up there. More

The Master was the big snub here. Only 3 nominations (all acting ones) I suspect it was a little too 'arty' perhaps? Although it was never seriously in the running I thought Berberian Sound Studio should have been up there as well. Also John Hawkes didn't get a nom.

Being a Scot, I am sorry that Ewan and that beautiful Scottish song from Brave weren’t nominated. But the biggest snub was Skyfall. In the year the Oscars are going to celebrate 50 years of Bond too. So much for Skyfall being the first Bond film to get major nominations. No Picture? No Director? It didn’t get any acting nods ether. Daniel might have been a bit of a push to be honest, as good as he was (No Bond is ever going to be up for Best Actor. Let’s face it). More

So much better than the BAFTA nominations! Very strong films overall, especially with the inclusion of BOTSW in three great categories which is unexpected but amazing because it deserves it. No Holy Motors for best foreign film is disappointing, same with The Imposter not getting a nod for documentary. Actually pleasantly surprised with this overall. More
