Garrett Hedlund Back For Tron Sequel
According to the man himself

13 December 2012  |  Written by James White  |  Source: Next Movie

Tron Legacy

Given how quickly studios tend to sign their actors to sequel deals when there’s a franchise in the offing, it’s not really a surprise to learn that someone who made it all the way through the first film will return for a sequel. And Garrett Hedlund has announced that he’ll do just that for the new Tron film.

Frankly, it was more of a surprise to learn that Disney really was going for a sequel to 2010’s Tron Legacy, given that it didn’t quite hit at the box office. Still, it took in $400 million around the world and the studio is newly enthusiastic about its continuing prospects.

Talking with Next Movie about On The Road, Hedlund admitted that he's in, and that both he and Disney are excited about the future. Disney has not yet confirmed any details beyond the film’s development, but Legacy man Joseph Kosinski is attached to direct again.

Jesse Wigutow was most recently hired to write the latest draft of the sequel’s script, which will most likely follow Hedlund’s Sam Flynn and – assuming she’s also locked in – Olivia Wilde’s Quorra both on and off the grid. We definitely haven’t seen the end of the threat from inside Kevin Flynn’s virtual world.

Awesome!
The first movie was a glimpse into what movies could do with technology in the future, the 2nd was a deserving sequel which was jaw-dropping in places a lot of the time. Hoping that Joe and the rest of the returning cast can impress again. Flynn Lives! More

Tron
Awesome news! Can;t wait for this one. Given his continued link with the franchise in the frankly fantastic animated series, I'm guessing Old Brucey will be back. Although I'd love to see Elijah Wood show up as Beck, even if its only briefly... More

Hooray!
I love both films. And the Daft Punk soundtrack is one of my all time favourite soundtracks. The remix album is really good as well. Great news! More

Key Players Return
I have to say I LOVED Claudio Miranda's Cinematography on Legacy. It gave it a real grown up feel, and alongside Daft Punk's score and the spectacular FX, it diminished the impact of the not so tight script. Hoping all of these factors are back in the mix for Legacy 2... Along with Jeff Bridges. More

Secretly pleased...
Neither of the Tron films were perfect; but they have a strange alluring charm to them that means I can't help but like them. Personally I am pleased with this news - hopefully if they can get in The Dude and Daft Punk along with Cillian Murphy being the big bad (which was hinted at in Legacy) it will work. More

Hope this happens!
This is great news! The first one had it's flaws, but it looked amazing and it's definitely a world worth revisiting. I'm looking forward to see what's happening back in the Grid :) More

This is great news :) Disney is now an Empire ruled by geeks. Following the extreme principles of geekdom and nerdism. Great things are to come. Let us all hope for and pray for that Black Hole remake. :) More
