Burr Steers, Igby Goes Down

Burr Steers, the director who has more recently been known for films such as Charlie St. Cloud and 17 Again, is looking to shake things up. He’s now attached to adapt and director horror tome Breed for Summit Entertainment.

Breed, written by Endless Love novelist Scott Spencer (using the pseudonym 'Chase Novak'), finds a couple turning to medical science to help them have a baby.

Unfortunately, the experimental treatment turns them into bloodthirsty savages, and they begin an urgent quest to find a cure. Because, as we all know, bloodthirsty savages rarely make good parents.

The book spans two time periods, starting with the parents’ attempts to conceive and then leaping ahead ten years into the future, when the successful product of their attempts, a set of twins, discovers that there’s something dangerously wrong with mum and dad and run away from home.

Mulholland Books had the first novel out on shelves in September and a sequel is already in the works. Steers is also developing Emperor, a look at the early years of Julius Caesar, written by William Broyles.
