New Pic Of The Hobbit's Great Goblin
It's Barry Humphries' warty wonder

07 December 2012  |  Written by Phil de Semlyen  |  Source: Entertainment Weekly (via Coming Soon)

If the Empire office is plagued by notorious biscuit thief 'The Hobnoblin', Middle-earth has the Hob-goblin - or the Great Goblin - to contend with. Hard to know who's more nefarious, although with his army of servile goblins and Goblin Town under his wobbly fist, the Great Goblin probably shades it. This new still from The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey shows Barry Humphries facing off against Gandalf (Ian McKellen) and the company of dwarves.

With all this Hobbity goodness, Peter Jackson is really spoiling us. First there was a (very) early look at Legolas in all his elfish splendour, now this closer look at the goblins' subterranean world. Both images come via EW.

We'd seen the LEGO version and his action figures, but this should give some indication of the sheer, goitery repulsiveness Gandalf and co have to deal with when the band of brothers stumble unwittingly into the midst of the goblin masses.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is out in the UK on December 12.
