Exclusive American Mary Trailer
Is there a doctor in the house...?

American Mary is the name of a song by indie darlings The National. It's also the name of The Soska Sisters' new body modification horror, the trailer for which can be exclusively found below.

In other words, be sure not to get the two confused, or your dinner party might be interrupted by the noise of someone starting up a surgeon's buzzsaw. Just a little tip for you there.

Telling the tale of cash-strapped surgery student Mary Mason (Katharine Isabelle) as she becomes the empress of an underground body modification ring to pay for her college fees, it's a sinister twist on the other side of nipping and tucking, complete with bloody baseball bats and surgery professors who get a taste of their own medicine.

As you can see from the trailer below, Empire's very own Kim Newman gives it the seal of approval, but give it a look for yourself to make up your own mind. P.S. As you may have guessed, it's pretty bloody, so if you're a little 'un or don't like the sight of the red stuff, you're best off clicking away now.

American Mary will be released in the UK on January 11, 2013, but only in "key cities", so be sure to get your Google on before you head to your local multiplex. Failing that, it hits DVD and Blu-ray on January 21.

RE: Can`t help but be reminded.....
A friend of mine has asked me go see with this them and after watching the trailer I wanted to ask if it's a fair and accurate representation of what the film is like? Also is it as bloody as the trailer (and the description in the article) implies? From what I can gather, it'll be on the level of the end of the Japanese film 'Audition'. Am I right? (FYI, reason I posted in this thread was because I wasn't sure what section to best put my question in, and then found this thread after searc More
