Seth MacFarlane Heads West
He's planning a comedy Western next

03 December 2012  |  Written by James White  |  Source: The Hollywood Reporter

Seth MacFarlane

He was already a big shot in telly with the likes of Family Guy and American Dad, but 2012 was the year Seth MacFarlane began his assault on the big screen. His first salvo was Ted, which went on to become a massive box office smash around the world. The big question has become what he’ll do next (besides the still-in-development Ted 2). Now we might know the answer, as the Hollywood Reporter brings word that he’s developing a comedy Western called A Million Ways To Die In The West.

Apparently, MacFarlane has co-written the script with Ted team Alex Sulkin and Wellesley Wild, and is looking to direct and star in the final product next year. No deals are in place yet, however.

You won’t be shocked to learn that the plot hasn’t been released, but it’s described as a Blazing Saddles-style tweak of the genre with a modern sensibility and a focus on how tough life was in the Old West of the 1800s.

As if that’s not enough MacFarlane for one story, don’t forget that he will also be hosting the Oscars on February 24.
