Fox Plans Susan Boyle Biopic
Planning a 'sensitive and honest' film

25 November 2012  |  Written by James White  |  Source: Deadline

Susan Boyle

Though she hasn’t been in the headlines recently, it would appear that the enduring appeal of spBritain’s Got Talent singing sensation Susan Boyle has reached the next stage of worldwide awareness, because someone wants to make a biopic about her. That someone is Fox Searchlight’s Lucas Webb.

The executive has snapped up Boyle’s life rights, along with the option to adapt musical I Dreamed A Dream. The eventual plan is to blend both into a film about Boyle’s life that will be full of music.

I Dreamed A Dream – named, of course, for the song from Les Miserables that launched Boyle into ‘net and then mainstream stardom after performing it on BGT in 2009 – chronicles her life from infancy in Scotland to the rigours of sudden international fame. The show has been touring the UK before heading to Australia and the West End.

This one is still at an early stage with no writer, director or cast yet, but expect Fox to pursue it with Simon Cowell-like intensity.

Wow, what's up with all the hate here?! Not that I'm interested in Susan Boyle's career or anything, but this "biopic" sounds like it might have a story, something in the sense of a poor housewife from some English town, living in poverty and then getting her big break after a small audition, or whatever. Nothing that we haven't seen before, but I can see that happening. I doubt there would've be as much negativity if it was the same biopic without Susan Boyle's name on it. But yeah, whether it More

RE: This news article ...
Monstercat: I've never said that 3D makes a bad film good. I just think that complaining about 3D is infantile when you have the choice between 2D and 3D. I subscribe to the 'just don't buy it' way of thinking. So, if this film IS in 3D I still want to be buried alive, but I'll happy put on my 3D specs first. If it's 3D IMAX, then bury me alive with my 3D specs in a really, really big hole. More

Seriously!? Finally something more pointless than X factor or BGT
How on earth will they pad this rubbish out? Surely it will just jump staright to Simon Cowell saying how she originally applied for a record deal, was not deemed "x-material" and therefore was placed on Bitains Got Talent to win one of his fixed and pointless television shows so he could get even richer by ripping off hard working Britions (although those who stump up money money for those shows will get no sympathy from me). (I do not wish to be overly disrepectful, but I have to mak More
