Attendees at this year's Comic-Con were treated by Guillermo Del Toro to a glorious showreel from his monsters vs. robots epic Pacific Rim. None of that footage has yet to officially show up online, but perhaps a glimpse has just surfaced.
A short way into this promotional piece for Mirada - the FX company of which Del Toro is an executive - there's a shot of an enormous robot, unsheathing some arm-mounted weaponry and stepping round a skyscraper to let fly with some rockets. You'll find it at about 01:15.
Now, that doesn't appear to be finished footage, we're saying, and could even be pre-viz or test footage that doesn't quite appear in this form in the finished movie. But if it does represent what we think it represents, it's certainly an indication of the awesome scale we'd been anticipating for the Jaegers: 25-storey fighting machines mentally bonded with human pilots.
Whatever, the clip is worth watching even without the fanboy excitement, since it's always a pleasure to see a Del Toro interview, and there are plenty of these-we-have-loved moments from Pan's Labyrinth, Hellboy 2 and other Mirada projects.
Pacific Rim stars Idris Elba, Charlie Day, Charlie Hunnam and, of course, Ron Perlman. It's currently in post-production, and arrrives in the UK on July 12 next year.

"The footage is absolutely not related to Pacific Rim AT ALL. Not even remotely. There is no footage of Pacific Rim to be released before Dcember.

No.
I think the entire internet is reading too much into an effects reel.
Unless Pacific Rim also contains a bloke hiding inside a robot basketball player, in which case I'll withdraw my comment. More
