First Warm Bodies Trailer Is Here
Braaains... But also, heart.

08 November 2012  |  Written by James White  |  Source: Entertainment Tonight

Zombies continue to be big business, with The Walking Dead a smash on TV and the shambling corpse creatures across all sorts of media. Isaac Marion’s novel Warm Bodies looked to do something a little different with the genre, blending the conflicted love of Twilight with the flesh-craving menace. Now the first trailer for Jonathan Levine’s adaptation has arrived, and you can watch it above.

Distilling the novel’s gently-humorous tone, Warm Bodies the film promises a lot less of the dewy romance angle of the vampire tales and a lot more laughs. And that’s not just because Rob Corddry is playing one of the zomboids.

Our hero, though, is R (Nicholas Hoult), who is trying the cling to the last vestiges of his humanity. Though he lives in a disused 747 and joins his undead comrades on missions into the nearby city to hunt for food (and feast on the living), he’s having issues about it.

Then he meets Julie (Teresa Palmer), the spirited daughter of General Grigo (John Malkovich). While her dad is the commander of a human survival settlement who wants all zombies shot on sight, Julie sees something different in R. And on his part, R definitely falls for her. But there are also the Boneys – the skeletal, horrific, next-stage ghouls – to be dealt with.

We have a lot of faith in Levine after The Wackness and 50/50 and we’re looking forward to this one, especially given the humourous treatment of the story. Warm Bodies stumbles in on February 8.

Intriguing...
This certainly looks like something a little different. Will be interesting to see if they can balance the tone effectively between the horror/comedy/romance elements clearly present in the story, but if they can, this could actually provide something with a bit extra to the genre. Definitely interested after seeing this trailer anyway. More
