Ming-Na Wen Joins S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series
She'll work with Clark Gregg

Ming-Na Wen

We know that on top finding cool new things for Tony Stark and co to do in the Avengers sequel, Joss Whedon is putting together the cast he needs for the new S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series that will expand the Marvel universe on the small screen. He already has Clark Gregg set to return as Agent Phil Coulson, and is now adding another major character, with Ming-Na Wen on as Agent Melinda May.

She’s described as a combat veteran; thoughtful and a little damaged by her experiences in the field. But Melinda is also an ace pilot and a weapons expert, not to mention a solider who can perform above and beyond the call of duty.

While Wen – now using her full name again after a few years of just Ming-Na) – has enjoyed a few big film roles (such as The Joy Luck Club), she’s mostly been a star on TV, appearing in shows including ER, Eureka, Two And A Half Men and Stargate Universe.

The S.H.I.E.LD. pilot, which Whedon has co-written with Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen, is still squatting at the top of our must-see list for next year’s crop of new US shows. Assuming it makes the cut, of course...
