Frank Grillo Up For Captain America 2
UPDATE: He's on to play Crossbones!

29 October 2012  |  Written by James White  |  Source: Collider

UPDATE: Pluck it from the rumour file, he's in! Variety reports that Grillo has won the role of Crossbones. He joins a cast that includes Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Scarlett Johansson (at least according to Variety), Cobie Smulders and Samuel L Jackson.

Though this remains one for the Rumour Files until the final decision is made, The Grey’s Frank Grillo has hit Twitter to drop a hint that he has tested for a role in a Marvel film. He followed that up with one about Marvel fans with #bones and then radio host / comedian Matthew Aaron Show added fuel to the fire, saying that Grillo is close to scoring the role of Crossbones, one of the villains in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

With Joe and Anthony Russo set to start directing the movie in March, casting is naturally in full swing. Grillo certainly seems to fit the physical type for Crossbones, who is often seen in the comics as a henchman of Red Skull and has appeared in Cap’s titles in stories alongside Falcon (who will be portrayed in the film by Anthony Mackie) and Winter Soldier (possibly Sebastian Stan, since Bucky Barnes becomes the Soldier).

Confirmed details are scarce from Marvel themselves, though apparently the film will feature two powerful male villains. Josh Holloway and Game Of Thrones’ Nikolaj Coster-Waldau have also been mentioned as possible candidates, so we’ll have to wait and see who – if any of them – gets chosen.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is set for release on April 4, 2014.

Is he even that well known in America? I just don't see the point in a what C lister at most? Who doesn't even fit the characters build you might as well have plucked any wrestler going to play the role I mean it's not as if Crossbones is gonna be anymore than probably Red Skulls main henchman anyway. Or that shit with the Incredible Hulk and Thor...
At least Jonah Hex had Megan Fox! Thought Cap 1 was pretty good, expected shite but was pleasantly surprised. If I still have my Cineworld card (influx of 3-D only movies is fuckin killing that though) I'll give the sequel a whirl! More

Crossbones in Cap 2? Fuck. Yes. But he'll have to be a goon/supporting character because he's not much of a villain on his own. More

ok
Well Crossbones will prob be a sub villain with 2 major villains still to be cast, iam betting not only that THE WINTER SOLDIER who is obviously in the film, but HYDRA will play a massive role which would mean Strucker and Zemo will be around, plus modern HYDRA were responsible for the creation of a certain SPIDER WOMAN More

Frank Grillo up for Captain America 2
Grillo as Crossbones seriously he'd have to put on about 50lbs to start with plus he's not really that much of a name is he? More
