Not Fade Away Trailer Online
David Chase rocks the '60s

07 October 2012  |  Written by James White  |  Source: Apple

After charting the lives of New Jersey mobsters with The Sopranos, you might think that creator David Chase would go somewhere else for his debut film. But while the gangsters are nowhere to be seen, Chase is sticking to New Jersey for Not Fade Away, which has just released its first trailer. Check it out above or in HD over at Apple.

Banish all thoughts of Tony Soprano and co (except for the very visible role of James Gandolfini, here playing an exasperated father to lead John Margaro), as the story delves back in time to follow three best friends from the suburbs that decide to form a rock band.

It’s 1964, the Rolling Stones are huge and our heroes decide that they could be the next big thing. But while they find some success early on, it’s naturally not as easy as that, as they have to face sleazy promoters, internal pressures and even romance with the likes of Bella Heathcote.

There’s a slight Almost Famous vibe here, though it remains to be seen whether Chase can capture the feel of a band’s early struggles as well as Cameron Crowe. Given his background, however, we’ve every confidence that he can.

The US will see the film from December 21, but there’s no UK release set yet.
