Clive Russell Joins Thor: The Dark World
Richard Brake also set

24 September 2012  |  Written by James White  |  Source: Deadline

With shooting long since underway, there is still, apparently room for two more bodies on the Thor: The Dark World set. And while they might not be megastar names, both Richard Brake and Clive Russell are solid That Guy character actors.

Brake has signed on to play a captain of the elite warriors called the Einherjar. According to Norse mythology they were fighters who died nobly on the field of combat and are carried to Valhalla by the Valkyries. As a group, they had a hand in training Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, so it looks like he’ll have need of their services once again.

Russell, meanwhile, will be Tyr, Thor’s older brother who holds the title of Asgard’s God Of War. As with Loki, Thor and his older sibling don’t exactly see eye to eye, despite Tyr being another true son of Odin. Which might also explain why he wasn’t spotted during the events of the first movie.

The movie will find our hero once more facing the evil machinations of Tom Hiddleston’s beloved baddie Loki, along with plots from Christopher Eccleston’s Malekith The Accursed, leader of the dark Elves of Svartalfheim.

Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Kat Dennings, Stellan Skarsgard, Jaimie Alexander, Idris Elba and Ray Stevenson are all back for this one, along with new boy Zachary Levi, who has stepped into the role of Fandral. Alan Taylor is calling the shots and the film will hit our screens on November 8, 2013.

Your Comments

"The movie will find our hero once more facing the evil machinations of Tom Hiddleston’s beloved baddie" - so do we know that Loki is going to be going full villain in this film? Because I thought his role was a little hazier than that - Hiddleston himself has spoken of wanting to redeem Loki to some extent, so has it been confirmed that it's not happening? More
