Mama Trailer Spooks The Web
A mother's love is forever...

13 September 2012  |  Written by James White  |  Source: Apple

When noted redhead Jessica Chastain goes Goth, you know there’s something to worry about. But Chastain’s new ‘do and tats aren’t the disturbing thing about creepy new horror tale Mama, which has just released a new trailer via Apple.

The really worrying part here is the two terrified kids who Chastain’s Annabel and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau’s Lucas agree to look after when they’re discovered hiding alone in a forest.

Turns out they’ve spent five years living there after their parents (including Lucas’ brother) mysteriously died. The girls are feral and fearsome at first, but slowly start to adapt to life with the couple. Trouble is, something has followed them, something that Victoria (Megan Charpentier) and Lilly (Isabelle Nelisse) call “Mama.” Something supernatural. And dangerous…

Directed by Andres Muschietti, who adapted his short with Barbara Muschietti and Luther creator Neil Cross, this is the latest horror to feature Guillermo del Toro wearing his producer’s hat. He really has a thing for tales where children see things that adults initially write off as the product of an overactive imagination, doesn’t he?

Mama will creep into US cinemas on January 18 next year, but there’s no set UK date yet.
