Devoted husband. Doting father. Ruthless contract killer. The terms don’t always go together, and if you heard them, you might just think it was so much fictional nonsense. But no, the story of The Iceman is true, and unspools in the first trailer for the movie, which you can watch below.
Michael Shannon stars as Richard “Richie” Kuklinski, who on the surface appeared to be a loyal family man, but had a truly dark side. When he wasn’t changing nappies or hosting dinner parties, he was out killing people for cash. All told Kuklinski was responsible for more than 100 slayings between 1964 and 1986.
Director Ariel Vromen co-wrote the film with Morgan Land, and the cast also includes Winona Ryder, Ray Liotta, Chris Evans, David Schwimmer and James Franco.
The Iceman had its premiere at the Venice Film Festival, where our own Damon Wise had mixed feelings about the result. There’s no set release date for the film here or across the pond yet, but we’d expect to see it next year.

What, so give the role to a crappy actor ...
... just because they look the part? No way. To paraphrase Soderbergh on Cheadle 'if you can book Michael Shannon, you book Michael Shannon'. The guy's fantastic, and he has the look of someone capable of keeping secrets, which I believe is much more important to the plot. More
Ohh didn't know they were even making a film about this guy...saw his documentary on NatGeo or something...Michael Shannon is the perfect choice as far as the perfomance goes...but I thought Kuklinski was a hulking giant of a man? More
