Wachowskis On Justice League Wishlist?
As Ben Affleck confirms he's not

Wachowskis On Justice League Wishlist?

Warner Bros. remains committed to getting its Justice League film off the ground, and is even now running down the list of possible directors. But just as one director has taken himself out of the running, others are reportedly being considered, with the Wachowskis said to be definite candidates.

But let’s deal with who has definitely decided against the film first, shall we? That would be Ben Affleck, who talked to the Canadian press and said, “It sounds really exciting, but it's not something I'm working on.”

As to the Wachowskis? Their possible involvement has been picked up by Moviehole, but it’s all still rumour for now. While we’re certain their names would be on Warners’ list (especially given their history with the studio and their avowed love for comic book characters), they’re not known for leaping onto other peoples’ projects, preferring to self-generate their own movies.

While the studio is apparently keen on the duo following the positive buzz for Cloud Atlas, the Wachowskis have several other projects still in the works that could well take prominence, assuming they were even interested in dabbling with Superman and the rest.

For now, they’ll remain in the ether and the only sold detail on Justice is that Gangster Squad's Will Beale has been cranking out the script. But don’t let that stop you – keep suggesting possible directors to get the League flying...

RE: aronofski
Let's hope they can find someone who can spell Iliad then. And at least Kill Bill had some more nuance to it than any spandex fest can ever have. Dress them up anyway you like, they pretty much add up to puerile power fantasies and basic morality tales. And, yes, that includes the feckin' Dark Knight... More

aronofski
agree with Bizz90, aronofski would do a good job. Quite like to see PT Anderson try his hand, but that'd never happen. Del Toro would do a good job too. artilleryman - I love your comment and then you use Kill Bill 2 as your avatar. Real grown up. Justice League could be an Odyssey or Iliyad in the right hands. Warners execs know the power of these hero stories. Its so reductive to restrict comic book stories to a child audience. More

It all sounds a bit dangerous to me.
What I mean is that the Amazing Spider-Man wasn't a bad movie (Emma Stone stole it for me), but it made less money than the Raimi films, I think, simply because it was rebooted too quickly. If Batman is rebooted as quick as that, and we have Man of Steel (which I must see immediately) then won't we end up with 2 x Superman AND 2 x Batman on the big screen? Then if JLA doesn't work that is one massive dump to be taking all over billions of dollars worth of franchises. If JLA goes the way of Green More

RE: Wachowskis On Justice League Wishlist?
I don't see anything but a rumour mill, the same as the Affleck thing - clearly all random and pointless speculation More

you could, you know, start making proper movies for grown-ups again, Warner... Just a thought... More

Little Nolan anyone?
I wouldn't mind seeing Jonathan Nolan have a crack at directing and as I assume Chris Nolan will play some part in the JL movie production either scripting or producing I think he could do alright under the guidance of his brother. They could even team up and direct it together which is the more likely solution. More

Re: Zack Snyder
I agree entirely. Although Sucker Punch was utterly ridiculous, Dawn of the Dead was awesome, he did a great job with Watchmen, and the teaser for Man of Steel looks stunning! More

Zack Snyder
I think Zack Snyder should direct it. He's already directed Man Of Steel so would fit well into creating a DC universe. But if not him then J.J Abrams since Star Trek was visually awesome. More

Watch This Space
The Wachowskis have never lived up to the promise they showed with the first Matrix movie. Everything they've done since has been a self-indulgent mess. Hard to know if they could reach that level again, Justice League is a huge project. If they can get their asses back in gear, maybe. Hard to say. More
