UPDATE: It's not just the US that will get to see extra-large snakes - select cinemas in the UK will screen the IMAX-ed version of Raiders Of The Lost Ark for the week beginning September 21.
The cinemas who are getting in on the HD Indy action include...
BFI Waterloo Odeon Braehead Odeon Cardiff Odeon Gateshead Metro Centre Odeon Greenwich Odeon Kingston Odeon Liverpool One Odeon Norwich Odeon Southampton Odeon Swiss Cottage Odeon Uxbridge Odeon Wimbledon Cineworld Crawley Cineworld Edinburgh Cineworld Sheffield
Paramount have announced that you can buy tickets from Friday, August 24, via www.odeon.co.uk and www.cineworld.co.uk, but at the time of writing, there's nary a hint of Indy on either websites.
If you can't make it during that week, don't worry, because the UK Blu-ray release of the four Indiana Jones movies is set for October 8.
To coincide with the arrival of all four Indiana Jones films on Blu-ray on September 18, US cinemagoers are being spoiled with an IMAX rerelease for just one week in the very same month.
Explaining just how you convert a 31 year-old movie to something capable of being called IMAX quality, Steven Spielberg told The New York Times, that "the first tier is where you take the DI [digital intermediate] and you enhance the resolution to IMAX resolution. The second tier is that the sound is significantly different.
"They take the [audio] stems that we gave them, and they put them through their 12,000 watts of digital surround sound, and it’s a totally uncompressed experience."
Sound, as it turns out, is key to Spielberg's IMAX vision:
"You kind of feel the sound in your chest, like when the boulder is rolling, chasing Indy through the cave. You really feel the boulder in your stomach, the way you do when a marching band passes by and you’re standing right next to it."
Accompanying the release is a new poster by Mark Raats below. Keen-eyed readers will of course note that it's called Indiana Jones And The Raiders Of The Lost Ark rather than its original title, A Boulder, Some Snakes And A Box, Raiders Of The Lost Ark.
It might not quite match the original Drew Struzan/Richard Amsel one-sheets below, but it still certainly packs a nostaglic punch.
Then there's the trailer for the IMAX-ified action adventure, which you can take a good look at below. Warning: not actually in IMAX quality - not even if you've got a seriously big computer monitor.
Raiders Of The Lost Ark will be out in selected IMAX cinemas between September 7 and 13 across the US, with no UK release confirmed as yet.

This is all well and good providing Lucas doesn't get his hands on it and decide it's time to re-release the film with 'enhanced' CGI.
If he does I think I will actually ditch my Star Wars box sets - all of them, VHS singles, VHS trilogy and DVDs (didn't bother with the blu rays).
But I doubt he will. He's not actually evil, just not too good at keeping his hands off classic movies that he helped to bring to the screen.
These are really Spielberg movies anyhow More

These aren't all Drew Struzan posters
The Raiders posters are by Richard Amsel (they even have his signature). He passed away back in the 80's so there is even less chance of him working up one for the IMAX release. More
