Downey Jr Injured On Iron Man 3 Set
Ankle issue causes slight delay

16 August 2012  |  Written by James White  |  Source: Entertainment Weekly

Downey Jr Injured On Iron Man 3 Set

Looks like Ben Kingsley’s Mandarin really does have diabolical plans for Tony Stark and the Iron Man universe. Because he’s found a way to strike directly at Stark’s Achilles heel! Which, it turns out, is in fact his ankle. All of which is a very silly way of reporting that Robert Downey Jr has injured his ankle while filming on Iron Man 3.

Apparently the go-getting central figure of the current Marvel cinematic universe was performing a stunt on set in Wilmington, North Carolina when he somehow managed to do himself an injury.

Marvel released a statement to the effect that there will be a short delay in the production schedule while he recuperates. Co-writer Drew Pearce took to Twitter to riff on the situation, writing, “Does anyone have one of those ultra-medically-realistic "limp-remover" things Bruce Wayne had? I'm asking for a friend. #IronMan3 #AnkleWars.”

We wish RDJ all the best for a speedy recovery. After all, hopping about and crying while fighting only makes the bad guys laugh at you. Also, this is what happens when you don’t have Coulson around to help out.

With Shane Black directing and Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, William Sadler, Stephenie Szostak and James Badge Dale joining returning faces Gwyneth Paltrow, Jon Favreau and Don Cheadle, Iron Man 3 is still on track to arrive on April 26 next year.
