Shadow Dancer Premiere Report
Clive Owen breaks cover

14 August 2012  |  Written by Phil de Semlyen

London's West End, presumably freshly spruced by that Brazilian street sweeper from the Olympics, played host to the UK premiere of James Marsh's new thriller Shadow Dancer last night.

Marsh's filmmaking career has taken in award-winning documentaries like Project Nim and Man On Wire, but the IRA thriller is his first feature film since 2005's The King, a welcome return celebrated on the red carpet alongside his star Clive Owen.

Marsh's story is based on journalist Tom Bradby's novel of the same name and heads onto the same pockmarked Belfast streets as classics like Odd Man Out and more recent dramas such as Hunger and Fifty Dead Men Walking. It stars Andrea Riseborough as an IRA footsoldier who's caught by MI5, and, coerced by Clive Owen's handler, left with a fairly stark choice. Take a look at the trailer below.

It is, says Empire, an intelligent and emotionally-charged spy drama. Catch it in cinemas from August 24.
