New Red Dawn Trailer Now Online
To go with this morning's poster

10 August 2012  |  Written by Owen Williams  |  Source: Yahoo

UPDATE: And here, finally, is the Red Dawn trailer, complete with flags waving, guns blazing and Filter blaring on the soundtrack. They're the Wolverines, and they'll create chaos, as Chris Hemsworth explains. Hey man, nice shot.

...

If your first thought is that everyone is looking exceptionally young on this Red Dawn one-sheet, rest assured that your eyes are not deceiving you. It's not photoshop airbrushing (well, OK, there's probably some of that too). That's because this film was shot in 2009. Better late than never then, here's a poster for the remake of Red Dawn, starring the now-much-more-famous Chris Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson, along with Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Josh Peck, Isabel Lucas and Adrianne Palicki. There's also a trailer due online later today.

The original Red Dawn, you'll be aware, was John Milius' Reaganite fable of an alternate 80s America invaded by communist Russia and its Latin American allies, and defended by Patrick Swayze, Charlie Sheen and their band of teen renegade "Wolverines". Milius co-wrote the script with Kevin "Waterworld" Reynolds.

The remake is the directorial debut of stunt-coordinator and second-unit man Dan Bradley, who can boast credits on the Bourne and Spider-Man movies,Quantum of SolaceSuperman Returns and ID4. Helming a $60m studio tentpole should have been a big deal for him then, but has proved to be a ball-ache of the highest order, not least due to the decision to re-cast the Red Menace as Chinese rather than Soviet.

MGM declined to release the film when it emerged from its bankruptcy troubles, and no other studio would touch it either, for fear of offending China and its rather important market. Hence the movie was re-jigged last year to digitally transform the enemy into a North Korean force.

We'll soon find out how successful an idea that was... Red Dawn was picked up for distribution by Film District (The Rum Diary, Drive) at the end of last year, and will finally be released in November.

ffs! ANOTHER REMAKE!
A few people here slagging off the original, it may be a bit dated now but at the time was pretty good, actually I might watch it tonight since its in my collection, but this is just another example of America/Hollywood's complete lack of creative thinking. "America.. F**k Yeah!" .... W4nkers! More

I watched the original just last night...... It's...... something. Despite the whole 'America, fuck yeah' of it all, it's actually really fucking depressing. More

RE: New Red Dawn Remake Poster Online
I don't want to be mean, he said, preparing to be mean, but that poster doesn't do Isabel Lucas justice. I personally don't think she's gorgeous or anything in real life but that bloody poster makes the poor girl look like Vincent from the Beauty and the Beast TV show from the 80s. I didn't just compare her to Ron Perlman, honest, the poster made me do it.... More
