Steve Pink Targets Bad Santa 2
He's in talks to rewrite and direct

31 July 2012  |  Written by James White  |  Source: Deadline

Steve Pink Targets Bad Santa 2

Ever since the first real talk about the movie surfaced last year, things have been quiet on the Bad Santa sequel front. But the rumblings are back, with word that Hot Tub Time Machine director Steve Pink is in talks to re-write the script and direct the film.

While there has been no solid word on star Billy Bob Thornton signing an actual deal to return, he’s always seemed eager to pull on the stained Santa suit and get back to his criminal, lady-hungry ways.

The original was directed by Terry Zwigoff and boasted a script by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa. But the new movie has already seen a draft from Johnny Rosenthal and John Phillips, although it's not clear whether Pink will be polishing that or rewriting it from scratch.

Though his last cinematic outing was Hot Tub, and he’s got a load of projects shuffling through development hell, Pink has been busy on the small screen, keeping his hand in shooting episodes of such shows as Childrens Hospital, The Office and New Girl.

Your Comments

Steve Pink (either he's got an awful real name or he's picked a really shitty fake one) is a John Cusack flunky and Cusack is the most overrated actor in movie history (TM). So I don't rate Mr Pink too much and don't hold out much hope for Bad Santa 2. More
