New Skyfall Footage Revealed
Bond escorts Her Majesty to the Olympics

28 July 2012  |  Written by James White  |  Source: 007.com

Update: As well as the remarkable Bond / Queen opening ceremony sketch, a new US 'Olympic' TV spot also aired which can now be seen below. Some of the scenes have already been seen in the first teaser trailer, but we also get glimpses of some new action set pieces.

As Bruce Forsyth might have said, “Didn’t they do well?” Danny Boyle and his entire team certainly put on a spectacular show to launch the 30th Olympiad. And for movie fans, the undoubted highlight was the Queen’s introduction, which roped in one of Her Majesty’s best-known service agents, one James Bond. If you missed it, take a gander below.

Daniel Craig, the current holder of 007’s license to kill, instead put all his sharp-suited skill to bear on making sure the Queen made it to the opening ceremony on time, even down to a trip from Buckingham Palace across London in a helicopter, cramming in as many images to make us proud of Britain as possible before the grand finale.

Which was? Well, if you haven’t seen it, we’re not going to spoil the surprise. But suffice to say, fans of Bond and John Barry’s theme tune will be very happy.

The entire opening ceremony was something of a triumph but this was something special. Of course, now she’s hung out with Bond, the Queen is a Bond girl… Alotta Regina, anyone? (Dear Your Majesty, please don’t cut the writer’s head off for that one).

Double O Heaven
Wonderful sequence, love the Queen's face as she says good evening Mr Bond. She clearly is enjoying it. Awesome finale which had the whole family in stitches and showing again that Her Maj has a great sense of humour. But, dear Empire, John Barry's theme tune? I'm sure Monty Norman would have something to say about that. More

TRAIN SEQUENCE...looks familiar
Now, I know there is only a seconds glimpse of a train sequence there and its probably too early to judge but it instantly reminded me of on the best (and my fave) set pieces in gaming. The Uncharted 2 Train sequence with the helicopter. I always thought this would be fantastic in a Bond film and of the copy it I will be calling plagiarism of course but it could still be excellent... possibly totally wrong here but hey one can hope More

Craig needs to ''man up' in a yellow citroen to earn his kudos after the QOS fiasco.... More

all this Moore would have lapped it up nonsense, he is the 2 nd worst Bond and is responsible for some of the series greatest crimes, get with the 21st Century, OAP Bond is gone this tough as nails Bond and don't write off Craig not pulling the humour off, we'll see it in Skyfall is just won't be applied with a trowel! Fans of Bond will enjoy it? Why, because we see Daniel Craig walking and then sitting? Ugh. Waste of time, there was no story, no spectacle and the thing they promised, the idea of Craig parachuting into the arena, didn't even happen. More

There was a significantly longer trailer before Batman at the BFI IMAX the last week, why hasn't that appeared on this site yet? More

Craig needs to loosen up....
Isn't he taking the 'hard man' approach a little to literally...show abit more Rog / Sean humour...Rog would of lapped up a one on one with Her Majesty... More

felt a bit forced.
It certainly showed that the Queen had a sense of humour but that felt almost forced because she was looking so bloody miserable through out the opening ceremony- for queen and country my bum hole. I agree with the guy below we should probably have a report about the us teaser trailer for skyfall. In conclusion the queens miserable and the film looks good. More

2nd Teaser Trailer
Dear Empire, I appriciate that Bond diving out of a helicopter with the queen was fun, but you haven't mentioned the teaser trailer from the states during the olympics opening ceremony. Come on catch up. Heres the link for those fans who haven't seen it yet. www.digitalspy.co.uk/movies/news/a395867/skyfall- new-us-teaser-trailer-debuts-during-olympic-opening-cer emony.html More

On Her Majesty's Secret Service
What would have been even more mind-blowing would've been if the Queen turned around and saw all SIX BONDS - Connery, Lazenby, Moore, Dalton, Brosnan and Craig. That would have been an untouchable (sorry, Sean), once in a lifetime moment. More

I am not royalist by any stretch of the imagination but to be fair it does show the queen has a sense of humour. Hopefully this isn’t the only Bond film Danny Boyle directs. Two Oscar winning directors are better than one. More
