Chasing Mavericks Trailer Surfs In
Gerard Butler hangs 10

27 July 2012  |  Written by James White  |  Source: YouTube

He may nearly have been killed filming scenes as a surfer for Chasing Mavericks, but the movie still makes us believe that Gerard Butler could teach anyone how to surf the most dangerous waves in the world. The star plays real-life guru Frosty Hesson and looks good doing it, as you’ll see in the trailer below.

Chasing Mavericks tells the based-on-truth story of surf champion Jay Moriarty’s early days. Here played by Jonny Weston, he’s an enthusiastic pupil, but still has a lot to learn.

The waves are very real too: the Northern California break known as the Mavericks makes for some lethal waters that can easily swallow inexperienced and unwary riders. Think Point Break without the FBI and the bit where Keanu shoots his gun in the air and goes "Aaaah".

As directed by Curtis Hanson, the movie shows us how Frosty agrees to school Moriarty on how to survive before he ever learns to do it with style. Chasing Mavericks hits our cinematic beaches on November 2. Bodacious, dude.
