Daniel Radcliffe Utters The F Word
With Zoe Kazan in a new comedy

17 July 2012  |  Written by James White  |  Source: Variety

Daniel Radcliffe Utters The F Word

After spending years of his life worrying more about saving his friends than romancing them (only to discover that his soulmate was his best pal’s sister all along) in Harry Potter, Daniel Radcliffe is giving more complicated relationship issues a try, signing up to co-star with Zoe Kazan in The F Word.

No, the word is not the rude “F” word – it’s “friend”, as in being stuck firmly in the friend zone. Elan Mastai wrote the Black List script based on TJ Dawe and Michael Rinaldi’s play Toothpaste And Cigars. It follows Radcliffe’s main character as a bloke attempting to defy When Harry Met Sally’s golden rule about friendships between men and women and have a successful platonic relationship with a woman he likes (Kazan). Just one slight thing: she’s already dating someone, which complicates matters no end.

The pair, along with whoever else gets cast, will start filming next month in Toronto. Goon director Michael Dowse will be calling the shots.

Radcliffe, who has successfully moved on from Potter’s world, recently agreed to star in Alexandre Aja’s adaptation of Joe Hill’s horror novel Horns. He’s also worked on indie drama Kill Your Darlings alongside Ben Foster, Dane DeHaan and Michael C Hall. Kazan will next crop up alongside Paul Dano in Ruby Sparks (which she also wrote) and has both Joss Whedon written / produced romance In Your Eyes and Neil LaBute adaptation Some Girl(s) in the can.
