Marvel Releases Item 47 Poster
And artwork from the new Avengers DVDs

Regular visitors to this site will already know that Marvel is adding to its collection of short films with Item 47, an ambitious, 12-minute piece that will appear on the Avengers Assemble Blu-ray. Now, via Entertainment Weekly, a poster has arrived, which can be seen in the gallery below.

Item 47, which has been directed by Marvel co-president Louis D’Esposito, starts as The Avengers Assemble finishes, with chunks of New York in ruins after the big battle. While S.H.I.E.L.D. has largely managed to round up all the fragments, one particular Chitauri gun has gone walkabout.

Specifically, it’s now in the hands of a less-than-ethical couple played by Lizzy Caplan and Jesse Bradford, who decide to use it for what any down-on-their-luck pair might: crime! Which is where two S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, played by Titus Welliver and Maximiliano Hernandez come in, since they have to get the thing back before anyone gets hurt. See a clip from the short at this link.

Marvel has set up a scavenger hunt at the San Diego Comic-Con, with clues that lead to a secret screening on Friday evening. But if you’re not attending, the short will be on the Blu-ray and DVD when they hit September 17.

And if you’ve been considering shelling out for the full Marvel Cinematic Universe – Phase One: Avengers Assembled box set, the company has also previewed the exclusive art for each disc of the various characters’ solo movies included in the set. Drawn by Matthew Ferguson, they’re rather nifty. Check out a sample in the gallery above and see the rest at Marvel’s site…
