Dylan McDermott Says Olympus Has Fallen

The casting notices are flying thick and fast in the race between Millennium Films and Sony to be the first out of the gate with a White House-in-peril action thriller. The latest nugget of thespian news is for Millennium’s Olympus Has Fallen, which has Antoine Fuqua directing and Gerard Butler starring. Variety now brings word that Dylan McDermott has signed on.

Olympus, written by Creighton Rothenberger and Katrin Benedikt, finds a former Secret Service agent (Butler) having to help out his ex-colleagues when terrorists target 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. With the President (Aaron Eckhart) in danger, the battle is on to stop the bad guys holding the place hostage.

McDermott, who has most recently been appearing on US TV drama American Horror Story, will be one of the Secret Service agents who helps to stop the terrorists.

Fuqua will be kicking off shooting this week in Shreveport, Louisiana. McDermott, meanwhile, will next be seen in Will Ferrell / Zach Galifianakis comedy The Campaign and indie drama The Perks Of Being A Wallflower.
