Fresh US Looper Trailer Is Here
The only thing to fear is yourself

29 June 2012  |  Written by James White  |  Source: Yahoo

While we’re fairly certain that Looper writer / director Rian Johnson has enough clout to stop the studio pulling a Spider-Man or Dark Knight Rises and releasing a flood of footage, he has been warning us all that’s best to see the film with as fresh eyes as possible. So with that caveat, we present the US trailer, which can be gawked at below.

Following on the heels of yesterday’s UK promo, this latest trailer comes packing a mixture of footage we’ve already seen and a nice selection of new material, including what looks to be a superbly snarky diner showdown between Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and his older self (Bruce Willis).

You surely know the rough plot by now, but just in case, in the style of the Reduced Shakespeare Company: Time travel, in the future, 2072. Outlawed, but available illegally. Crime bosses sending victims back 30 years to 2042. There, hit men called Loopers kill ‘em and dispose of the bodies. Joe’s a Looper, who does his job and rakes it in. Until the latest target is… himself. Chaos. Shooting. Explosions. Gravity disruption. Emily Blunt. Shotgun. Boom.

Boom indeed. We can’t wait for this one and, while we’re trying to stay pure, those trailers certainly are compelling. Johnson and his Looper crew finally put us out of our impatient misery on September 28 and you know – you know Empire will be bringing you something juicy and exclusive on the movie in a future issue.
