Latest Looper Trailer Jumps In
'I can't let you walk away alive...'

28 June 2012  |  Written by James White

Director Rian Johnson has been using Twitter again to tease the latest trailer for his sci-fi action pic Looper. This is the UK version for your delectation, with the US version likely to follow soon. But enough wibbling about time zones – go watch the thing. Just before you do… Be aware that Johnson has cautioned that, while this doesn’t give away the big twists, there are some small elements here that might be vaguely spoilery.

Looper, for anyone still unaware, finds Joseph Gordon-Levitt working in 2042 as one of the titular hit men. They're hired by criminal organisations who send their chosen victims back from 30 years further into the future to be offed where no one will look for them. But an already timey-wimey twisted tale is given a further wrench when Joe’s latest target turns out to be his older self, played by Bruce Willis.

We’ll say no more about the plot as we’re too busy building our anticipation for this one. Keep your eyes locked to the Empire site for the next trailer when it breaks. And by that, we of course mean don’t go to sleep, don’t go out anywhere, ignore your family, let the washing go un-washed…

With Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, Jeff Daniels and Garret Dillahunt also in the cast, Looper travels to our time on September 28.

Personally I am wary of any film that explains itself too explicitly in the trailer, they all seem to conform to the axiom of dissappointment that is 'long trailer: insubstantial film'.. More

looky like?
i think Gordon-Levitt looks more like a young Alec Baldwin in this clip then a young Willis. Oh and Re; arturolivares, I think you mean "Bald", not bold. Either that or you'd hate to see yourself as a criminal in the future, which you're already on your way to becoming :) More

JGL!
I,ve said it before and I,ll say it again, Joe? A MEGAstar in the making, I know he,s fairly hot at the moment too but he just gets better and better. I,m only hoping he doesnt lose his indie roots and go TOO "Hollywood"!!!!! More

I don't know but if I would see my future self and discover that I'll be this bold, I would probably shoot my present me, not my future me (Which is ironic given the fact that I'm actually going bold). Still I have the feeling that I've just given away the film's actual ending! More
