Alan Partridge Lands in August 2013
Plus the great man on his movie debut...

26 June 2012  |  Written by Phil de Semlyen

Alan Partridge Lands in August 2013

It’s taken some time for the man behind Monkey Tennis and Arm Wrestling With Chas And Dave to get around to making his big screen debut, but word has leaked from Alan Partridge’s Norfolk base that we’ll be seeing the results on August 13 next year when The Alan Partridge Movie arrives. We’re just a little excited about this and we’re willing to bet that you are too.

Partridge certainly is. StudioCanal have picked up UK distribution rights, shooting will kick off on January 7, 2013, and he’s got hold of a press release on which to record to share his delight.

“I'm simultaneously gladdened and pleased to see a British film being co-funded by the French dudes at StudioCanal,” the one-time of Knowing Me, Knowing You man announced. “This is without doubt the greatest Anglo-French co-operation since the Normandy landings. This time, the heroes aren't Allied servicemen - they're motion picture financiers, who are equally brave.

“I'd also like to add that 'canal' - or, in English, 'canal' - is a transportation system close to my heart. In the late 18th century, this new method of logistics halved the price of coal in many English cities. If StudioCanal’s investment can achieve even a fraction of that, I will be delighted.”

With Father Ted man Declan Lowney behind the camera, The Alan Partridge Movie will follow Partridge's attempts to resurrect his broadcasting career "while negotiating a potentially violent turn of events at North Norfolk Digital Radio". Should we brace ourselves for Norfolk's Nakatomi Plaza? Watch this space.

Meh
Would be a lot more excited about this if there was mention of Armando Iannucci. Without him there is danger of this being Alan Partridge de House. More
