Miles Teller Sees The Spectacular Now
He'll star with Shailene Woodley

Miles Teller Sees The Spectacular Now

His big break in Rabbit Hole helped put Miles Teller firmly on the radar of every casting agent in Hollywood. He followed that up by stealing scenes as Willard in the Footloose remake. Now he’s set to star alongside The Descendants’ Shailene Woodley in The Spectacular Now.

With James Ponsoldt directing a script by Michael Weber and Scott Neustadter, The Spectacular Now finds Teller as a charismatic high school senior who lives life in the moment. He starts to realise the impact he has on other people’s lives when he begins a relationship with social outcast Aimee Finicky (Woodley).

While it sounds worryingly like the basic plot for much-parodied Freddie Prinze Jr / Rachel Leigh Cook vehicle She’s All That, we’re hoping for better things thanks to the new movie’s source material in Tim Tharp’s book. Ponsoldt will start shooting later this summer in Georgia.

Teller has most recently worked on Jon Lucas’ 21 And Over (which sees him as a medical student partying the night before a big exam) and Dylan Kidd’s ensemble comedy Get A Job. According to Deadline, he’s also in serious contention for Sony’s action comedy The Kitchen Sink, which finds teenagers uniting with vampires and zombies to fight aliens. Hence the title…
