For many film fans, football is not all that important in their lives – but today, thanks to a carefully chosen advert slot half way through the England vs. France Euro 2012 game on ITV1, football fans (and non-football fans who happened to have tuned in) were treated to something a little bit special from The Dark Knight Rises UK marketing team.
Then posted to the Dark Knight RisesUK Facebook page, the footage shows Bane being an utter bastard and Batman both in suit and out of it. Nothing remarkably new in comparison to what's been seen over in the US at the MTV Awards and elsewhere of course, but still well worth your time.
Choice quotes: Alfred's "Born and raised in hell on earth" and Mr. Wayne's "My wife?" Take a look below to see for yourself...
With Marion Cotillard, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Aidan Gillen, Juno Temple and Matthew Modine also in the cast, The Dark Knight Rises is out on July 20.
For lots – and we do mean lots – more on the film, including the most comprehensive, exclusive access you’re going to get on Rises and the entire Bat-trilogy this side of Christopher Nolan’s brain, make sure you pick up the latest issue of Empire, which in shops and on the iPad in both UK and US flavours (or flavors across the pond) now.
... and I think some wee came out when I got the confirmation in my inbox. I need help. Either that or I need an IMAX cinema to rival the BFI's in my garage. Whichever's cheaper, I suppose. I suspect it will be a toss-up. I do need quite a lot of help. More
For anyone with a remote idea of the storyline, especially Knightfall from the comics, there is a spoiler if you pay attention to the trailer that confirms (I think anyway) a rather large part of the plot....
Anyone else spot it?? More

The Empire magazine issue is incredible, with so much detail and facts and figures and interviews!
I don't watch football but I just watched that match to see the trailer.
I stayed up until past 1 last night so I could book tickets, there were none for my local cinema so I have to travel at 6 in the morning to an IMAX cinema that I've never been to before, all to watch this majestic piece of cinema. Nolan, you're welcome. More
