First Dredd Poster Arrives
Judgement is coming

08 June 2012  |  Written by James White  |  Source: JoBlo

Though we suppose Lionsgate and the team behind Dredd have been waiting for the bigger guns such as Prometheus, The Avengers and a certain Mr Batman to get out of the way in terms of advertising, it is a little puzzling as to why we’ve seen zero seconds of footage from the film. No teasers, no trailers for trailers and not even a clip. But while that situation hasn’t changed, there is at least an official Dredd poster online now, courtesy of JoBlo. Check it out along with a couple of new stills in the gallery below.

Dredd, of course, adapts John Wagner’s 2000AD creation for what promises to be a much harder-edged film than the 1995 Sylvester Stallone effort.

In this case, Karl Urban plays the gruff lawman, who serves in the sprawling Mega City One. Venturing into one of the city’s huge tower blocks, he’s soon fighting for his life alongside new recruit Anderson (Olivia Thirlby) against scheming crime boss Madeline 'Ma-Ma' Madrigal (Lena Headey) and her goons.

With Alex Garland writing the script and Pete Travis directing, Dredd is scheduled to hit on September 7. We’re hopeful that the stills look like they’ve been culled from a trailer, so we’ll see something soon.

Fingers crossed!
I'm liking the look of what we have seen so far from this. I'm not going to jump on the band wagon and slate Stallone's version as I did actually quite enjoy it for what it is, he just should've kept the damn mask on! Fingers crossed that this will be a decent take on the comics with a darker, more sinister tone! More

ugh.
I love Judge Dredd, I can't see this one topping the Stallone movie. I know this is closer to the comic books, but it's going to take a hell of a lot of convincing to get me to like this version! More

That city is not very Mega looking and apparently 90's pick up trucks are still being used. I am hoping I am just being fickle. More

Love the way he's mowing the scum down.....
This looks promising...the stills remind me of Robocop / Recall...hope it has that tone....I know Dredd's not evryone's cup of tea...but here's hoping it'll do alright! More

Now THAT is a movie poster!!
Best poster of 2012. After DKR, this is the movie I'm really looking forward to seeing this year. I don't think it's a problem that we've seen little-to-no footage/blogs/virals. Perhaps it's a good thing that we're not being over-saturated with trailers giving away the whole movie. Bring it on. And prepare to be JUDGED!! More

What, no 2D release? Or is someone at the photoshop-shop going to be demoted to jumble-sale-flyer duty? More

Colour me excited. I do wonder, as mentioned before, why there are contemporary vehicles in that shot, and also why the tower blocks (which for some reason don't look very big) are so far apart. I always envisioned Mega City One to be entirely covered with these massive buildings with no more than a street's width between them. Not that those things'll affect the movie much. I bet even Stallone doesn't stand by his Dredd. More

DREDD NOT DEAD!
Hooray! nice understated, moody poster.I hope this is the first sign of the overdue publicity campaign.I want this film to be good more than anything this year. (i'm a bit unsure about the contempory vehicles in the movie still though!) More

Dredd The Thought
It is a warning sign that we've not seen a second of this movie so far, not even a teaser trailer. I'm hoping it doesn't suck. Joe Pesci should have been Fergie in the Stallone Judge Dredd, not the irritating Rob Schneider. More

I liked the Stallone movie
I saw it at the cinema, and the money was definitely up there on the screen - parts of it looked awesome and Danny Cannon gave it a very nice sheen. It was also messy, uneven, and had unwelcome comedy in places, but I thought the whole crazy thing gave it a bit of charm. More
