Ridley Scott Plotting Moses Pic

There is a truth universally acknowledged about Ridley Scott that he’s constantly announcing new films, throwing another project into his increasingly stuffed development hopper. You might think he’d give it a couple of years, make one or two of them and give everything else some breathing room. They should be so lucky… Talking with Esquire, he’s dropped hints that he wants to make a Biblical epic about Moses.

His focus for the still-in-development movie is the Old Testament prophet Moses, who has somewhat famously already been brought to the screen at least once before.

While he admits that, “I probably shouldn't have let that slip out. I'm not supposed to say anything,” he goes on to talk a little bit about what his vision for the film is.

“It's definitely in the cards, though. What's interesting to me about Moses isn't the big stuff that everybody knows. It's things like his relationship with Ramses II, the Pharaoh. I honestly wasn't paying attention in school when I was told the story of Moses. Some of the details of his life are extraordinary.”

When he’ll get to it is anyone’s guess, since he’s already going to be busy making The Counselor this year and has that list of films he also wants to make. But it certainly seems as though Biblical films are looking to make yet another comeback, between this and Darren Aronofsky’s Noah. As long as this doesn't turn out to be merely a live-action Prince Of Egypt.
