New Dark Knight Rises Footage Premieres
And a new TV spot to boot...

04 June 2012  |  Written by James White  |  Source: The Hollywood Reporter

Sunday night saw the MTV Movie Awards take place in Los Angeles. While the awards themselves are the usual batch of trophies for teen-pop hits like Twilight and The Hunger Games, there was also some exclusive footage from big upcoming releases shown. This year saw some superb new material from The Dark Knight Rises, introduced on the show by Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale. Take a look below, with the usual caveat that you might want to be careful about being exposed to too much Bat-footage.

What’s new is an even bigger focus on Anne Hathaway’s Selina Kyle and a little more with Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s John Blake. Before, that is, Tom Hardy’s Bane shows up to start exploding things, piling cars as a roadblock and torturing people. Or, as he likes to call it, a regular Tuesday.

We already knew this one was going to be big. But this latest promo? It just highlights quite how epic Nolan and company set out to go as they make their last hurrah.

Also arriving last night was a new TV spot, which is really just snippets from previous trailers spliced together for your viewing pleasure.

With Marion Cotillard, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Aidan Gillen, Juno Temple and Matthew Modine also in the cast, The Dark Knight Rises is out on July 20.

For lots – and we do mean lots - more on the film, including the most comprehensive, exclusive access you’re going to get on Rises and the entire Bat-trilogy this side of Christopher Nolan’s brain, make sure you pick up the latest issue of Empire, which in shops and on the iPad in both UK and US flavours (or flavors across the pond) now.

I agree, the fact their only showing bane and batman is clearly making people more interested in the film because they want to know how the story is going to end. More

This should have been the trailer. Loving the fact that Miranda Tate and young Ra's haven't been shown at all. Not too much given away on that front. Not long to go now... More

Looks great!
This for me is a much better trailer than all the stuff gone before! I was excited already but this just now promoted a film that can actually go toe-to-toe with Avengers. More

I'm good to go...
... no more trailers. You had me at "This isn't a car". Thanks for the link boredbluekoala. Looks amazing. The only problem is that this could topple "Batman Returns" (yes, I still think that is the best Batman film to date), as the best of the Batman movies. More

THAT'S BURN GORMAN! Owen from Torchwood is in this? I wasn't that bothered about the flick, but now? Count me in. (that was sarcasm) (although Burn Gorman in a Batflick is kinda cool.) More
