New Bourne Legacy Trailer Online
Jason Bourne was the tip of the iceberg

31 May 2012  |  Written by Helen O'Hara  |  Source: Apple Trailers

The new trailer for The Bourne Legacy is online at Apple, and it's looking pretty darn terrific. What's clear from this one, as opposed to the previous effort, is just how much its story overlaps with and weaves around the Matt Damon-starring trilogy, explicitly linking in to events at the end of The Bourne Supremacy.

Here, we see that Jason Bourne's actions have left the shadowy government agency that employed him desperate to clean house and remove all traces of Operation Treadstone or any related programmes. That's bad news for Jeremy Renner's (so-called) Aaron Cross*, who is one of those scheduled to be cleaned up. And not in a nice bubble-bath-and-fluffy-towel sort of a way either. Rachel Weisz, a scientist who has been tinkering with Renner's chromosones (oo-er), is also on the run, from Edward Norton's ruthless-looking programme leader.

Glimpses of David Strathairn, Joan Allen and Scott Glenn confirm the link to the previous films, and there's even another nod to Paddy Considine's slain Guardian journalist.

The Bourne Legacy is out on August 13, and there will no doubt be a few more trailers and clips to decode before then.

*He growls his real name here, which sounds like Cath Kidston but is actually Ken Gidson.

RE: RE:
Saw this for the first time yesterday could they have used Jason Bourne anymore to sell this film mentioned him by name 3 or 4 times had a picture of him even used bits from previous films (Paddy Considine). I suppose they need all the help they can get as it's coming out within 2 weeks of "THE BIG BAD BAT!" More

RE: RE:
After initally being sceptical of this project given the lack of Damon and Greengrass's involvement, my hopes are higher now.I think Renner has impressed a lot with his roles in MI:4 and Avengers and this new trailer makes it look great! Looks a lot better than Skyfall anyway. More

RE: Doubts cast aside...
I still say that if they could persuade Edward Norton to be in the movie then he should have been given the lead role. One of the all time great actors. More

RE: must be cacking themselves
Looking forward to Bond more but this also looks very very good. I loved the Bourne films, and constantly wish Nolans Batman films had action scenes even 50% the quality of the Bourne series. More
