Lay The Favourite Trailer Online
Rebecca Hall bets on Bruce Willis

29 May 2012  |  Written by James White  |  Source: Handbag

Considering it’s a comedy starring Bruce Willis, Rebecca Hall and Catherine Zeta-Jones, things have been rather quiet on the promotional front for Stephen Frears’ latest, Lay The Favourite. The film opens next month and the first trailer has only just arrived, courtesy of Handbag. Take a look below.

Lay The Favourite, adapted from Beth Raymer’s memoir by Frears’ High Fidelity collaborator D.V. DeVincentis, stars Hall as Raymer, a bubbly former exotic dancer who decides to quit the life and become a cocktail waitress in Vegas.

But there she meets inveterate gambler Dink (Willis), who soon considers her his new good luck charm. Soon she’s making more money than she dreamed and falling for the affable and seemingly straightforward Jeremy (Joshua Jackson). But Dink’s world, including vengeful wife Tulip (Zeta-Jones) is not as simple as that. And luck doesn’t always last.

The producers are clearly looking to tap into the audience that usually sees Katherine Heigl or Anne Hathaway rom-coms, which as our own Damon Wise suggested when it played at Sundance, might be the smartest bet. Lay The Favourite arrives on June 22.

Bruce Willis
Too bad they pushed GI Joe back to next year as I think Bruce was about to set a record for number of movies released in a single year. More
