4-Minute Amazing Spider-Man Clip
Get yer set piece action here

15 May 2012  |  Written by James White  |  Source: Sony

With the traffic snarl of superhero blockbusters crowding screens this summer, all of the studios are pulling out new tricks to make sure their movie grabs our attention. Sony is keeping the pedal to the metal with The Amazing Spider-Man and premiered what it’s calling a “super-preview” during America’s Got Talent last night. Take a look at the footage below, but be warned that it contains elements from one of the film’s big set pieces, so there may be spoilers within the footage and our discussion below.

While we’re treated to the edited highlights of one of the movie’s bigger sequences – Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) having to rescue some innocent victims of one of the Lizard (Rhys Ifans)’s latest rampage – it’s certainly an effective demonstration of director Marc Webb’s approach to the character and proof that the film should be able to pull off some spectacle to balance out the focus on Peter’s life and relationships. We’re definitely ready to see more like this, though, epecially since the rest of the clip is mostly just the same trailer material we've already seen.

And while you're still here, a couple of new posters have also surfaced - click on the thumbnails below to take a look.

With Emma Stone, Martin Sheen, Sally Field, Campbell Scott, Denis Leary and Irrfan Khan also among the cast, The Amazing Spider-Man will be out on July 3. And we’ll have the results of a recent chat with Webb up on the site soon.

RE: Nope...
They are promoting a reboot, so while it may not actually happen as much in the film as it seems in the promo material NOT EVERYBODY IS AS FAMILIAR WITH THE FACT THAT IT'S A NEW ACTOR IN THE ROLE OF PARKER/SPIDEY AS SOME MIGHT BE SO THEY ARE GETTING THE LESS INITIATED USED TO SEEING ANDREW GARFIELD'S FACE IN A SPIDER-MAN FILM SO IT'S NOT TOO JARRING, IT'S CALLED MARKETING TO THE AVERAGE CONSUMER!!!!!!!!. And...breathe...jobloffski calm now More

Nope...
...sorry... I saw him take his mask off in the big set piece and at least once more IN THE PROMO... therefore (like the others) the film will be lame... breaks all the principals of being a superhero... dummys... it's what made Raimis versions so bad... STOP TAKING YOUR MASK OFF. More

Unoriginal
Right... Andrew Garfield, good choice for Spidey, nuff said on that. The bridge thing with the cars? ummm didn't that happen in 1? umm no no, that was a cable car TOTALLY different... yeah course... Amazing/spectacular ability to lose his mask... yeah been done and is kinda stupid really. One original point i guess is the web shooters, but really who cares? Best part of this movie? Gwen Stacey. Thats all it has goin for it, really. Spidey's wise cracks are on show which is good i guess, but he d More

Spideys unmasking.
I dont understand why people are complaining about him being unmasked. From all the clips I have seen with him unmasked he seems to have his face obscured or down to hide his identity i.e. when he kicks some ass outta the swat guys!?? The only other scene I can think of is when hes on the train in his civies...but we dont know what the situation is regarding the rest of that scene. And anyways...Raimi pulled it off fine during spidey 2 and it worked fine! More

Re: Re Spider Vs Bat
The only reason I’m not sold on TDKR is the introduction of Catwoman – I don’t believe the end of a trilogy saga such introduce a charter with such a vast story line. I hope Sipderman don’t try and follow suit by introducing Black Cat in the future. And to people’s views on the mask, get over it. Yeah it a stunt on Sonys side, but least we know its Garfield under there and not some random man who gets no credit for one of the biggest superheroes in the world. More

RE: Spider Vs Bat
Rether people are happy with a reboot or not the major plus (again) about these Spiderman films is that we seem to be getting the oppurtunity to witness the more fantasm characters in which the Comics hold. Its rightfully sticking to that concept, while Batmans gone the other route. More

RE: Kutch!
Looks good, but I'm not sold on films lately sending out more and more viral glimpses of whats generally going to be around the corner in a few weeks. Why all these 4-minute to 20 minute previews? A trailer is enough in my opinion and maybe some related viral character vids or Pics (like Prometheus),but everything else?,no. Anyway being a big Spidey fan I hope this film does really, really well. More

It does not look too bad if I am honest. That said I saw the 3D IMAX trailer a week or so ago and the 3D looked abysmal and really impinged upon the experience of watching the trailer in a bad way. More

Not again..
STOP TAKING OFF THE FREAKIN' MASK!! Spider-Man should only be unveiled to the public during the Civil War storyline, not before. I wouldn't mind usually, but the clip says "Spider-Mans Greatest Secret" which should be his identity, yet you seem to see him without his mask more than with it on. Has it just become a symbol now? Honestly. Still. Looks bloody crisp and sharp image wise, I'm just worried the 3D will take some of that away. More

MOST anticipated film? Really? I heard less people complaining about Lizard/reboot news when it came to Dark Knight Rises, Hobbit and Avengers... Come on, guys. It doesn't count if you make the claim yourself. More
