A Royal Affair's New Poster Online
Mad king, cheatin' queen: bring it

14 May 2012  |  Written by Helen O'Hara  |  Source: Exclusive

Fancy some historical drama this afternoon? Well, how about a poster for A Royal Affair, a film based on a true story about a mad King, his Queen, her lover and all the corsets and wigs you could wish for.

It's a Danish story of the 18th century. Caroline Mathilde (Alicia Vilander) was the young woman married to King Christian VII of Denmark (Mikkel Følsgaard), who was - not to beat around the bush - around the bend. Caroline began an affair with her physician, Johann Friedrich Struensee (Mads Mikkelsen). Given that it was a serious crime for a queen to have an affair in those days, this was not a low-risk strategy.

A Royal Affair already premiered at the Berlin Film Festival, but it will hit the UK on June 15.
