Saucy Stills From Spring Breakers Online
Franco gets down with the sickness

10 May 2012  |  Written by Owen Williams  |  Source: Kinopoisk (via The Playlist)

The news that Harmony Korine was making a spring break movie, with a cast made up of wholesome American teen TV stars, previously led us to speculate that he'd either gone mainstream, or that he was planning some mischief. The mainstream thing was, obviously, unlikely, and we now have a clear indication of the scurrilous shenanigans afoot in Spring Breakers, thanks to some new stills.

Yup, that's James Franco in the middle there, as a rapping, gun-running drug dealer in an Ashley Benson / Vanessa Hudgens sandwich. What seems to be indicated by the rest of the photos just released, is that none of the film's foremost female foursome (rounded out by Selena Gomez and Rachel "Mrs" Korine) will at any point be fully dressed in this film. Filth! Ought to be a law!

Spring Breakers is the Korine version of a road movie, whatever that may turn out to mean. It sees the aforementioned bikini girls opting to fund a holiday by robbing a fast food restaurant. Clearly this doesn't go well, since they end up in jail, but they're then bailed out by Gangsta Franco on condition that they assassinate his main competitor.

There's no release date yet, but shooting has finished and Korine is in the editing room, which The Playlist speculate will mean a festival premiere in the autumn. Watch this space for updates. We'll be watching it quite carefully ourselves...
