He's attached to the psycho-thriller

David Slade Directing Villain

He’s been busy pushing 20th Century Fox’s reboot of Daredevil through its long development process, but it would appear that David Slade is itching to dig back into an even darker side of life. He’s now on board to direct psychological thriller Villain.

With a script by Josh Zetumer (who has also written the new RoboCop reboot), Villain finds two brothers venturing into the unforgiving wilds of Alaska as they confront their dark past.

"David is a brilliant director with an eye for gritty, dark thrillers," producer Ben Browning tells Variety. "He's the perfect match for Josh's phenomenal script and we are confident that we will draw top-tier talent to the project in the coming weeks."

The project will mark Slade’s return to Alaska after 30 Days Of Night, though this time he’ll actually get to go there, since the vampire story was actually shot in New Zealand.

Slade, who also has Hard Candy, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, the pilot of US drama Awake and several episodes of Breaking Bad under his belt, has a few projects sitting on his creative burners alongside The Man Without Fear. He’s been working up Dracula-inspired tale The Last Voyage Of Demeter for a while now, and is attached to Ed Brubaker graphic novel adaptation Coward. Telly-wise, he’s down to make the pilot for the new goggle box take on Hannibal Lecter.
