New Expendables 2 Trailer Arrives
In a word: 'SHABALABABOOM'

03 May 2012  |  Written by Ali Plumb

The teaser trailer for the full Expendables 2 trailer below - yes, yes indeed - was essentially an excitable introduction from Terry Crews and a series of explosions.

This full-length version has much, much more, including a few words of wisdom from Sly himself, just to get you into the mood.

As you'd expect from a movie that assembled the greatest action cast ever assembled, then added even more action stars - Bruce Willis and Arnie get bigger roles; Jean-Claude Van Damme finally gets on board - it's big, it's boisterous, and it's got hella loud explosions.

Each big name gets his own beat, such as Arnie's nice little aside about the size of Smart cars as well as, um, another weird knife pun from Lee "The Stath" Christmas - no limericks this time, perhaps? - but generally it's a deluge of explosions, action sight gags and some awesome-sounding words from some incredibly muscly men.

If the first Expendables didn't explode your world - for want of a better phrase - it's important to remember that this one is directed by Con Air's Simon West (who was also behind Statham's The Mechanic recently), which may persuade you to take a second look.

Also, when Arnie says, "I'm back" - does that work? We need your thoughts on that one, so let us know what you think in the comment box below.

The Expendables 2 is out August 17.

Thought the first one was unwatchable; bad acting, bad dialogue, boring action - a right load of old toss. This looks quite fun though! More

Cool.. but
It looks very cool indeed and rather badass, particularly good to see Norris and Arnie blowing shit up However, my viewing was ruined what looked an absolutely awful peice of editing or something, what. is. with the way that arnie pulls the door off the smart car? It just floats off More

I'm Back
I think it might have sounded less forced if the words were "told you I'll be back". It seems a little cheap but I will forgive as it's Arnie and I love Arnie! More

How many films has Arnie said 'I'm back' in?
Well it looks better than the first, which isn't hard seeing as it was terrible. Even as a throwback to action movies of the mid 80s it failed. Anyway, this looks far better. More

This. Looks. IMMENSE!!!
Let's be honest, the first one took itself way to seriously and it took forever to get going, but the last 30 minutes or so were brilliant. This looks like the last 30 minutes...for two hours!!! Bring it on. Dodgy "I'm back!" lines and all. More

Sly vs Van Damme showdown
Not so excited about a Sly vs Van Damme showdown, now a Seagal vs Van Damme showdown, there's a prospect. My worry about this film is the same this I had with Rocky Balboa - made far too late. Arnie and Sly should have been in a film yonks ago. As soon as I get over that, I'll enjoy this film. More

RE: Expendables Never Die
L: BenTramer I'm glad Sly will get to kick Van Damme's ass for being so snotty when he offered him a part in the first Expendables. hope they develop the characters better this time, hem stronger dialogue and some different set-pieces not just blowing stuff up real good for the sake of it. sm=happy07.gif]py07.gif] You're in the wrong film, buddy. Awesome love these guys, the "i'm back" line made me laugh presume there will be alot more context in the final film though. Over the top nonsense like this makes for a much more enjoyable film than something like the Hunger Games of recent. If anyone is left after this one I think they should get Shane Black to write direct the 3rd one. More

My heroes look old!
Though who can't be excited by the thought of Stallone and Van Damme kicking seven bells out of each other. The 'I'm Back!' line makes me wish I had more eyes to roll than the two in my head. I'll watch this on Movies on Demand one drunken night for sure though. More
