Ruby Sparks Trailer Summoned Online
Paul Dano conjures his perfect girl

Ruby Sparks Trailer Summoned Online

Directing duo Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris haven’t made a movie since 2006’s Little Miss Sunshine, though they’ve kept busy shooting adverts and looking for another project. They locked down a script called He Loves Me from actress Zoe Kazan last year, and now the trailer for the finished pic, re-titled Ruby Sparks, has arrived over at Apple.

Sparks finds Kazan’s real-life boyfriend Paul Dano playing Calvin, a young novelist who rode the wave of success early in his career but has since come crashing back down onto the beach of writer’s block. It’s also taken a toll on his love life, but both improve when he creates what he believes to be the perfect woman in a story and starts to fall for her, only for her to show up suddenly in his life (played by Kazan herself).

Soon, he’s caught between wondering just how this could have happened and finding himself endlessly drawn to the seemingly ideal Ruby.

With the likes of Elliott Gould, Steve Coogan, Annette Bening and Chris Messina also in the cast, the film will be out across the pond on July 25, but doesn’t yet have a locked in UK release date.
