First Look At Anthony Hopkins' Hitchcock
For Sacha Gervasi's latest

19 April 2012  |  Written by James White  |  Source: People

More than one actor has played legendary director Alfred Hitchcock through the years. But now comes someone who brings years of experience playing real people and some Oscar-winning talent to boot, as we get our first look at Anthony Hopkins as the man himself in Sacha Gervasi’s Hitchcock.

Anthony Hopkins as Alfred Hitchcock

Take a gander at the picture side by side with a shot of the original Hitch for comparison. You can also click on the Hopkins-as-Hitchcock pic to be taken to a bigger version over at People’s site.

Anvil! The Story Of Anvil director Gervasi started the cameras rolling last Friday. Formerly titled Alfred Hitchcock And The Making Of Psycho, it charts the director's struggle to get the iconic slasher made when everyone else considered it beneath him.

Joining Hopkins are Helen Mirren as wife Alma, Scarlett Johansson as Psycho star Janet Leigh, James D’Arcy as Anthony Perkins, Jessica Biel as Vera Miles and Wallace Langham as designer Saul Bass. The most recent name to be added to the cast list is the former Karate Kid, Ralph Macchio, who will play the movie's writer, Joe Stefano.

Hitchcock should arrive next year, but the picture certainly bodes well so far. What say you lot?

Wow.
Wow, that looks terrific. I agree with what has been mentioned below, it would have been a nice touch to have made the film in black and white. Still, it's a good cast so lets see and give it chance. Could be a nice little surprise. More

Take Two Blu-Rays Into The Shower? Not Me!
Psycho is a great movie and anything that keeps it in the public eye is a good thing. This has a great cast and, if nothing else, we might get remastered special editions of all the Psycho movies. More

I would love to see this in B&W. I think it would make it so much more authentic and it would help it relate to the film, Psycho, a lot better. That, and I think Scarlett Johannson was born to be shot in B&W!!! More

RE: Garfield is Norman
That looks brilliant. Look forward to this one. L: professoryaffle2000 No Andrew Garfield as Perkins. That;s a shame. He is the dead spit of the Young Norman Bates. ow that you mention it, he would make an excellent Anthony Perkins. More

Very interesting project and Hopkins is the man for the part, he looks the part there (I guess he hasn't let himself go too much to look exactly like Hitchcock!) More
